Trump Names Steve Witkoff as Special Envoy to the Middle East and Mike Huckabee as Ambassador to Israel
President-elect Donald Trump made two significant announcements on Tuesday, naming key figures for critical diplomatic roles. Trump has selected real estate investor and campaign donor Steve Witkoff to serve as his Special Envoy to the Middle East. Witkoff, a longtime ally and regular golf partner of Trump, is the founder of the Witkoff Group, a real estate investment firm he established in 1977. Trump praised Witkoff, describing him as a “Highly Respected Leader in Business and Philanthropy” who will be an “unrelenting Voice for PEACE” in the region[2][4].
In addition to Witkoff’s appointment, Trump also announced that former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be nominated as the U.S. ambassador to Israel. Huckabee, known for his strong support for Israel, brings a wealth of political experience to the role. This move is seen as a significant gesture towards strengthening U.S.-Israel relations.
Witkoff’s role as Special Envoy to the Middle East is particularly noteworthy given his connections to the Jewish business community, which were highlighted during Trump’s presidential campaign. His appointment is expected to bring a business-oriented approach to diplomatic efforts in the region.
