Trump Orders Airstrikes on ISIS Leader in Somalia, Claims ‘Many’ Killed
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he ordered precision airstrikes targeting a senior ISIS attack planner and other militants hiding in caves in Somalia. The operation, conducted by U.S. Africa Command, reportedly killed “many” terrorists without civilian casualties, according to Trump.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated, “This morning I ordered precision Military air strikes on the Senior ISIS Attack Planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia. These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies.” He added that the strikes destroyed the caves and eliminated the threat without harming civilians.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the operation, stating it was coordinated with Somalia’s government. An initial Pentagon assessment indicated “multiple” ISIS operatives were killed, with no civilian casualties reported. Hegseth emphasized that the strikes “further degrade” ISIS’s ability to conduct terrorist attacks and send a “clear signal” that the U.S. remains committed to eliminating terrorist threats.
Trump claimed the targeted ISIS planner had been on the U.S. military’s radar for years, but previous administrations failed to act decisively. “I did! The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!’
