Typhoon Halong North Pacific

Tokyo, JapanTyphoon Halong formed in the North Pacific Ocean early Friday, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. This weather system is one of many that can develop during the year-round typhoon season, which sees most activity between early July and mid-December.

Typhoons can have severe impacts, affecting countries such as the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan. They also threaten the Korean Peninsula, China, and Vietnam, bringing damaging winds and destructive storm surges.

In the past, U.S. territories have not been spared either. Super Typhoon Mawar, which struck Guam in May 2023, caused billions of dollars in damages. As Typhoon Halong develops, residents in potentially affected areas are urged to stay informed and prepare for possible impacts.

The path of Halong will be monitored closely as it progresses, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
