Charles Oliveira Ufc Fight Night Rio De Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — The UFC is set to thrill fans once again as it returns to Rio de Janeiro on Saturday for UFC Fight Night: Oliveira vs. Gamrot. The event features a stacked 13-fight card at Farmasi Arena, anchored by former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, who fights in Brazil for the first time in over five years.

Oliveira will face Polish contender Mateusz Gamrot in a lightweight bout with significant implications for the division. This matchup comes as a late replacement for Rafael Fiziev, who had to withdraw due to injury. Oliveira, known as ‘Do Bronx,’ aims to bounce back after his recent loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 317.

“I’m excited to fight in front of my home crowd,” Oliveira said. “It’s been too long since I performed here, and I intend to show my best.” Oliveira has claimed six victories in six UFC fights held in Brazil, making this fight even more critical for his legacy.

Gamrot, nicknamed ‘Gamer,’ is making a name for himself in the lightweight ranks after winning four of his last five fights. With a unanimous decision win over Ludovit Klein earlier this year, Gamrot looks to establish himself as a title contender should he win in Rio.

The co-main event features former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo seeking to end a two-fight losing streak against Montel Jackson. After early success in bantamweight, Figueiredo’s recent injuries have left him eager to return to form against the rising Jackson.

Also on the main card, dangerous finishers Vicente Luque and Joel Alvarez will clash in what promises to be an explosive welterweight showdown. Luque seeks to regain momentum after a tough stretch in recent fights, while Alvarez looks to shine in his first welterweight appearance.

In the heavyweight division, Jhonata Diniz battles fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alumni Mario Pinto. Both fighters are vying for a breakthrough performance that could launch them into the rankings.

The preliminary card kicks off at 4 PM ET and features matchups with rising stars, while the main card begins at 7 PM ET. Fans can catch all the action via the ESPN app or through UFC Fight Pass.

With passionate Brazilian fans expected to fill the arena, the UFC promises an electric atmosphere for its fighters and viewers alike. UFC Fight Night: Oliveira vs. Gamrot is not just a fight card; it’s an event that showcases the heart of Brazilian MMA.
