University Of Missouri Student Riley Strain Found Dead In Cumberland River After Fraternity Trip To Nashville

The body of University of Missouri student Riley Strain, who went missing during a fraternity trip to Nashville, has been discovered in the Cumberland River in West Nashville. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed the identification after Strain’s body was found about eight miles from downtown Nashville.

Authorities clarified that there was no sign of foul play in Strain’s disappearance and subsequent death. Chief John Drake of the Metro Nashville Police Department stated that Strain still had all his personal belongings on him when he was recovered from the river.

Strain, 22, was last seen on March 8 after being kicked out of Luke's 32 Bridge, a bar owned by country singer Luke Bryan. He disappeared while on the fraternity trip, leading to a widespread search effort that involved multiple agencies such as the Nashville Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, and the United Cajun Navy.

Surveillance footage showed Strain walking alone in downtown Nashville before he went missing. The search intensified after a TikToker claimed to have found Strain’s bank card near the Cumberland River, sparking speculation and interest in the case.

The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) is investigating whether Strain was overserved alcohol on the night of his disappearance. Luke’s 32 Bridge stated that Strain was served one alcoholic beverage and two glasses of water during his visit.

Following the discovery of Strain’s body, his family has been notified, bringing a solemn end to the two-week search operation. The case garnered national attention as social media played a significant role in spreading awareness about Strain’s disappearance.

WSMV, a local news outlet, was among the first to report on the recovery of Strain’s body from the Cumberland River. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Strain’s death continues as authorities work to provide closure to his family and loved ones.
