The excitement in the automotive world just hit an all-time high with the reveal of the 2025 Corvette ZR1. This powerhouse, just launched at a special event in Miami, is officially the most powerful Corvette to date, boasting a staggering 1,064 horsepower and a torque of 828 lb-ft from its 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

Tadge Juechter, Corvette’s executive chief engineer, shared his enthusiasm with ABC News, explaining that the team didn’t aim for a specific horsepower number. Instead, they explored every ounce of technology available to create something extraordinary. And wow, they succeeded! The ZR1 managed an impressive sub-10-second quarter-mile time, and it even hit speeds over 200 mph during initial laps at the Nürburgring track.

This latest Chevrolet addition proudly stands toe-to-toe with some of the world’s best sports cars, supercars, and hypercars. With performance stats that challenge even the likes of the Mercedes-AMG One, which tops out at 1,063 horsepower, the ZR1 showcases the prowess of American engineering.

In terms of torque, the ZR1 nearly matches the strength of a heavy-duty Ram 2500 diesel truck, producing a robust 828 lb-ft, compared to the pickup’s 850 lb-ft. This powerful performance helps the ZR1 flaunt an incredible power-to-weight ratio of around 580 horsepower per ton, surpassing famed competitors like the Bugatti Veyron and Porsche 918.

Weight, too, plays a crucial role in the car’s performance. The ZR1 is approximately 1,000 pounds lighter than both the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Lucid Air Sapphire, making it a featherweight in the supercar realm.

The ZR1 doesn’t just roar; it grips the track with authority. With the optional ZTK package, which includes a high-downforce rear wing and front dive planes, it boasts a remarkable 1,200 pounds of downforce at speed, outshining models like the Lamborghini Huracan STO.
