Veterans Day Usa Ceremony

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m., the armistice between the Allies and Germany took effect, marking the end of World War I. This day, originally observed as Armistice Day, eventually became Veterans Day in 1954, honoring all U.S. veterans.

Veterans Day serves as a solemn reminder of peace and gratitude toward those who have served in the military. As the nation prepares to observe this holiday on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, many businesses and government services will alter their hours.

Post offices and banks will be closed on this federal holiday, which means there will be no domestic mail delivery. Most banks will follow suit, as their operations are tied to the Federal Reserve’s schedule.

However, many retailers and restaurants, including popular chains like McDonald’s and Walmart, will remain open, offering various promotions for veterans and active military members. These promotions typically require identification, such as a Veteran ID Card or DD214.

The closure of schools on Veterans Day varies by district. In Florida, where schools are overseen by 67 separate districts, some will close while others remain open. For instance, counties like Broward and Miami-Dade will not hold classes, while others like Charlotte and Orange will maintain regular school hours.

In addition, several public offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles and local government agencies, will close, while private shipping companies like UPS and FedEx may operate with modified schedules.

As the community reflects on the sacrifices made by servicemen and women, they are encouraged to participate in local events and take advantage of Veteran Day offers as a way to honor their service.

This year’s Veterans Day is not just a day off; it’s a meaningful time to pay respect and remember the courage of those who served our nation.
