Golden State Warriors Vs Los Angeles Lakers

SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors will begin their 2025-26 NBA season tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. PST but will be without talented wing Moses Moody due to a calf injury.

Moody, who was expected to make an impact on the court, has been sidelined since he missed the final three games of the preseason. Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated that although the injury is not considered severe, it raises questions about the team’s lineup stability as they prepare for the rigorous season ahead.

The Warriors will roll out a starting five that includes Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, and Draymond Green. Al Horford and Buddy Hield are expected to provide valuable minutes off the bench.

Kerr noted that both Butler and Kuminga have been cleared to play, further solidifying the team’s chances. The Warriors concluded the last season strong after Butler joined the roster, accumulating an impressive 23-8 record. The hope is that they can channel that momentum, even with Moody’s absence.

Defense will likely be a focus for Golden State this season with the addition of Al Horford, replacing fan-favorite Kevon Looney. Horford’s ability to shoot from long range and play defensively mirrors some of the traits previously held by Andrew Bogut. Despite his age, Horford’s experience will be crucial to the team.

There will be several key players looking to fill in the gaps left by injuries. Young talents like Quintin Post and Will Richard are expected to rise, especially given the requirement for increased contributions early in the season.

Regarding Moody’s recovery, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Geoffrey Abrams indicated that the calf strain is manageable, with most players typically returning within a couple of weeks. The Warriors are cautious about his return, ensuring he is fully healthy before bringing him back to the court.

Looking ahead, fans remain hopeful as the Warriors aim to capitalize on their established core of veterans while integrating their younger talents. As opening night arrives, the team’s pride and experience will be put to the test against their rivals, the Lakers.
