Water Main Break Disrupts Montreal’s Metro Orange Line

Montreal‘s transit users faced some frustrating delays on Wednesday afternoon due to a water main break affecting the city’s metro system. The Société de transport de Montréal, known as STM, announced that the water leakage impacted service between the Côte-Vertu and Berri-UQAM stations.

According to STM spokesperson Amélie Régis, the issue stemmed from a water main break located between the Lionel-Groulx and Place St-Henri stations. The good news is that city crews managed to close the valve, which means the service should resume soon after the water is pumped out.

To help mitigate the inconvenience for passengers, STM deployed shuttle buses to accommodate those traveling on the affected line. Initially, services were expected to be back up and running by 4:15 PM, but the transit authority later revised that estimate, pushing it to 5:15 PM.

Just before 6 PM, STM took to social media to announce that service had finally returned to normal, signaling the end of a challenging commute for many Montrealers.
