PUERTO IGUAZÚ, Argentina — The weather forecast for Puerto Iguazú this Tuesday, October 21, predicts a maximum temperature of 26°C and a minimum of 12°C. According to the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN), winds are expected at 14 km/h with an average humidity level of 71%.
The SMN report indicates that during the early hours of Tuesday, there will be no expected precipitation, and humidity will remain at 71%, accompanied by light easterly winds of 14 km/h. The forecast for mid-morning shows no rain, a decrease in humidity to 62%, and slightly stronger winds at 16 km/h from the northeast.
This afternoon, there is still no expectation of precipitation, with light winds of 15 km/h from the northeast. Tonight will follow suit with no expected rainfall and winds of 13 km/h from the east.
The SMN is the official body responsible for collecting and disseminating meteorological data in Argentina. Its primary function is to predict weather and atmospheric conditions, issue early alerts about dangerous weather phenomena, and provide climate information for various sectors, including aviation and agriculture. The SMN operates through a network of meteorological stations across the country and utilizes satellite imagery and numerical prediction models.
The organization defines an alert as “the potential occurrence of a meteorological threat” meant to support decision-making across various population sectors. Alerts are typically issued 24 to 72 hours before an event. Short-term alerts prompt immediate action from the public, as conditions may change rapidly.
Alerts can be issued for rain or storms, extreme temperatures, or unusual weather phenomena that might disrupt daily activities. For elevated temperatures, a yellow level represents potential danger, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, seniors, and those with chronic illnesses.
According to the SMN, the website cautions about “exceptional meteorological phenomena with the potential to cause emergencies or disasters.” These alerts can indicate extremely dangerous temperatures that may affect all individuals, even those in good health.
Looking ahead, the coming days are likely to feature fresh mornings and warm afternoons with no expected precipitation. The Dirección General de Alerta Temprana anticipates spring-like conditions to last until at least Thursday. For October 21, there will be little change in temperature and some cloud cover, influenced by high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean.
Temperatures are set to range between 9 and 16 degrees for the minimum and 23 to 27 degrees for the maximum during this period. No rainfall is expected, and air quality will remain at good levels. The highest temperature in the province is expected in Puerto Iguazú at 27 degrees, while the lowest will be 9 degrees in Bernardo de Irigoyen, with a felt temperature of 7 degrees.
The forecast for Wednesday, October 22, suggests a slight rise in temperatures with fresh mornings and gradually warming days due to northeast winds. Maximum temperatures may range from 26 to 30 degrees, but no precipitation is anticipated despite increased cloud cover. It is expected that Posadas will record the highest temperatures at 30 degrees and Bernardo de Irigoyen the lowest at 11 degrees.
On Thursday, October 23, stable conditions will endured due to an extensive dry air mass covering Misiones, eastern Paraguay, and southern Brazil. The day will start fresh, warm in the afternoon, and feature high cloudiness without the risk of rain. Winds will come from the northeast at speeds between 9 and 23 km/h with gusts up to 50 km/h. The lowest provincial temperature is forecasted for 14 degrees in Bernardo de Irigoyen, while Puerto Iguazú may reach 29 degrees.
