Wendy Williams Diagnosed With Aphasia And Dementia, Team Confirms

Longtime US daytime talkshow host Wendy Williams has been confirmed to have been diagnosed with aphasia and dementia, her team revealed in a recent press release.

In the official statement, Wendy Williams’ team addressed the ongoing speculation and concerns regarding her health that have arisen over the past few years. They clarified that Williams received her diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023 after undergoing a series of medical examinations.

Primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia are conditions that have presented substantial challenges in Wendy Williams’ life, affecting her ability to process information, language, communication, behavior, and cognitive functions.

Wendy Williams, a well-known figure in the US for her long-running talk show, The Wendy Williams Show that aired from 2008 to 2021, has been open about her health struggles in the past.

In 2017, Williams fainted during a live taping of her show on Halloween due to overheating and low electrolytes, prompting concerns about her well-being. Subsequently, Williams revealed in February 2018 that she had been living with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder that results in an overproduction of thyroid hormones.

Following a hiatus from her show in 2019, Wendy Williams disclosed to her audience that she had been diagnosed with lymphedema, a condition that causes tissue swelling due to a build-up of protein-rich fluid in the lymphatic system. Despite her health challenges, Williams assured fans that she had the condition under control.

Wendy Williams’ ongoing health issues led to the cancellation of her show in 2021, and she has since been embroiled in a financial dispute with Wells Fargo regarding access to her accounts, resulting in the appointment of an unnamed guardian to handle her affairs.

Additionally, a two-part documentary about Wendy Williams, titled Where Is Wendy Williams?, produced by Lifetime, is set to premiere this weekend, shedding light on her health struggles and the challenges she has encountered in recent years.
