Winter Weather Hits Lubbock with Snow and Chilly Temperatures
LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Winter weather has arrived in Lubbock, bringing light snow and flurries to the Caprock region. Skies are expected to clear this afternoon, offering brief glimpses of sunshine, with daytime highs reaching the 30s. Overnight, temperatures will drop into the 20s, accompanied by cloudy conditions.
Thursday is forecast to be more active, with a mix of snow and rain expected throughout the day. Snowfall will begin in the morning, primarily affecting areas west and southwest of Lubbock. Accumulations are predicted to reach around half an inch in most locations. By the afternoon, temperatures are expected to rise slightly above freezing, potentially turning snow into a rain-snow mix in areas off the Caprock.
Travelers are advised to exercise caution, as the wintry conditions could create hazardous driving conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Authorities recommend allowing extra travel time and driving slowly to ensure safety.
By Friday, the wintry weather is expected to clear, making way for sunshine and warmer temperatures. Highs over the weekend could reach the 50s, providing a welcome respite from the cold. Copyright 2025 KCBD. All rights reserved.
