Wisconsin Judge Arrest Protest

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The recent arrest of Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan has ignited a wave of protests and outrage among progressive lawmakers. On Friday, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders condemned the actions of the Trump administration following Dugan’s arrest for allegedly assisting an undocumented migrant evade federal immigration agents.

Dugan, 65, is facing felony charges for obstruction and concealing an individual whom she reportedly harbored in her chambers during a federal operation. Sanders accused President Trump of “illegally usurping congressional powers” and said the arrest was a move toward authoritarianism.

“Let’s be clear. Trump’s arrest of Judge Dugan is not about immigration; it’s about exercising unchecked power,” Sanders stated. Other progressive lawmakers joined in the condemnation, labeling the arrest as an attack on the judiciary.

Senator Elizabeth Warren referred to the incident as a “red alert moment,” emphasizing the need to stand against such actions. Representative Gwen Moore expressed alarm over the FBI’s involvement, stating, “Arresting a judge requires a high legal bar and is a serious matter. This action demonstrates an increasingly lawless administration.”

Advocacy groups including Voces de la Frontera organized a protest outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse in response to Dugan’s arrest. They criticized the FBI for allegedly undermining Dugan’s due process, calling it a tactic to intimidate those who oppose Trump’s agenda.

“The FBI’s actions signal to judges and advocates everywhere: comply with Trump’s agenda or face dire consequences,” the group asserted. In light of these developments, public concern over the administration’s approach to law and order is mounting, as more citizens are becoming aware of the administration’s overreach.

As protests continue, community leaders are urging citizens to remain vigilant and support a free and independent judiciary, saying, “In times like these, we must stand together against the eroding rights and freedoms that define our democracy.”
