World Leaders Diwali Greetings 2025

NEW DELHI, India — As millions across India and around the globe celebrate Diwali, world leaders have extended their heartfelt wishes for the festival of lights.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali on Monday aboard the INS Vikrant off the coast of Goa. “I am fortunate that this time I am celebrating this holy festival of Diwali among all you brave soldiers of the Navy,” Modi said during his address to the sailors.

Modi praised the energy and enthusiasm of the naval personnel, highlighting the importance of community and service during such festivities. “The night spent yesterday on INS Vikrant is hard to put into words,” he added. Moments later, he spread Diwali greetings via social media, wishing everyone prosperity and harmony on this auspicious occasion.

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her wishes with a focus on responsible celebrations. “This festival of joy is also an occasion for self-reflection… and to bring joy into the lives of the needy,” she stated.

Ayodhya marked the eve of Deepotsav by lighting over 26 lakh diyas, setting a Guinness World Record. The event emphasized Ayodhya’s cultural heritage as over 30,000 volunteers participated.

Internationally, leaders from countries including Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore conveyed messages that underscored Diwali’s themes of hope and renewal. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “As you gather to celebrate the great festival of lights, may this special time uplift you with hope for a bright future.”

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing family unity and the victory of light over darkness.

Closer to home, Tamil Nadu saw bustling markets as residents prepared for the festival. Firecracker sales have surged following a Supreme Court ruling allowing their sale in specific regions.

Festivities weren’t limited to India; Texas Governor Greg Abbott hosted Diwali celebrations, reflecting the spirit of the Indo-American community.

Diwali, observed in various forms across the country, has once again united people in a shared message of goodness prevailing over evil. As citizens light lamps in their homes and celebrate with fireworks and feasts, the essence of hope is palpable throughout the nation.
