STAMFORD, Conn. — Days before the latest episode of SmackDown, multiple reports indicated that WWE is releasing or not renewing contracts for various superstars, as the company prioritizes maintaining record profits. This move comes amid an ongoing lack of an off-season in the world of professional wrestling, leading to speculation about potential roster additions.

One notable rumor involves former WWE World Champion Alberto Del Rio, who appears back on the WWE Alumni section of its website. Currently wrestling as El Patron, Del Rio is the reigning AAA Mega Champion and has sparked interest following WWE’s recent acquisition of AAA during WrestleMania weekend.

Fans took notice of Del Rio’s return to the Alumni page, raising questions about his potential return to WWE. While there were indications previously that Del Rio and WWE lacked mutual interest, insiders now suggest that their relationship has improved, no longer described as ‘contentious.’

Del Rio, 47, has had a controversial past, facing multiple felony convictions and a history of being released by TNA in 2018 for missing an event. Despite his past struggles to connect with fans long-term, some believe he could still contribute significantly in the ring. WWE Hall of Famer JBL has praised Del Rio as the best ring general in the world for his performances in Mexico.

There is speculation that Del Rio might make an appearance in WWE as soon as June 7 at the World Collide event. His potential return has fans buzzing as they anticipate what might occur next.
