SEOUL, South Korea — Yeonjun, the 26-year-old member of the popular boy group Tomorrow X Together (TXT), is stepping into the spotlight with his new solo EP, ‘No Labels: Part One.’ In a late-night Zoom interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he emphasized his focus on creating music that truly resonates with him.

Since debuting in 2019 as the oldest member of TXT under BigHit Music, Yeonjun has matured alongside his fellow members. The group has transformed over the years from energetic teens to young men exploring a wide range of genres. Yeonjun’s solo work reflects this evolution, showcasing his personal journey and artistic risks.

‘No Labels,’ a six-track album, holds significant meaning for Yeonjun. He describes it as an exploration of sound rather than a narrative-driven project. “I just wanted to capture my stories and my style,” he said. “This album turned out to be a reflection of who I really am.”

Being heavily involved in the creative process, Yeonjun wrote lyrics for most of the songs and contributed to their composition. He stated, “It’s more fun and fulfilling to create and tell my own story through music.” The experience has been transformative, allowing him to find himself in ways he hadn’t anticipated.

Despite the challenges of working solo, Yeonjun viewed the project as a growth opportunity. “Physically, it was tough, with so much to coordinate. But looking back, it was so much fun. I feel like I experienced another youth,” he reflected.

Yeonjun also experimented with his music video format by incorporating multiple songs, including “Coma,” “Let Me Tell You,” and “Talk to You.” He aimed for a creative, omnibus style rather than a traditional narrative. “I wanted to present strong performances and visuals that fit the overall theme,” he explained.

As he navigated this solo venture, Yeonjun learned to rely on himself creatively. “I didn’t have much time to confide in anyone,” he admitted. “Through this process, I learned a lot about myself, which was very meaningful.”

‘No Labels’ symbolizes his journey toward self-acceptance. Yeonjun wishes to be perceived as an artist who creates music genuine to himself, regardless of outside opinions. “I focus on making music that I love and believe in,” he said.

As Yeonjun releases ‘No Labels: Part One,’ he embraces the journey of becoming a solo artist while staying true to his roots in TXT.
