In a bid to gain a deeper understanding of his company’s operations, Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and CEO of Zomato, recently took to the streets of Gurgaon as a food delivery agent. This move has drawn significant attention and sparked conversations across social media platforms.

Goyal, accompanied by his wife, Grecia Munoz, donned the familiar Zomato delivery uniform and rode a bike to deliver food orders. Photos shared by the CEO on Instagram depict the couple engaged in various tasks typical of delivery agents, such as navigating to delivery addresses and interacting with customers.

The images and accompanying captions generated a wave of responses online. Many praised Goyal for his hands-on approach to understanding the challenges faced by Zomato’s delivery personnel. One Instagram user commented, “We were super stoked to see you at the Alamode office. Huge respect for your work and the entrepreneur you are!”

However, not all feedback was positive. Some individuals critiqued the gesture as a marketing ploy rather than a genuine effort to address the struggles encountered by delivery workers. A user mentioned, “Hope you’ll be able to see the pain of the delivery persons and would resolve their problems and make their lives easier.”

Deepinder Goyal, who established Zomato in 2008, has seen his fortunes rise with Forbes reporting his net worth at approximately $1.7 billion. His recent marriage to Grecia Munoz, a former Mexican model, earlier this year also gained media attention.

The venture into delivery service by the high-profile CEO and his wife has added to the ongoing dialogue about the working conditions and challenges faced by delivery personnel in the gig economy.
