PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Marcus Morris recently expressed discontent about his short time with the Philadelphia 76ers, criticizing both President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey and head coach Nick Nurse.

Morris, who joined the 76ers mid-2023 season from the Los Angeles Clippers, shared his frustrations in a livestream. Back in March, he had already mentioned his dissatisfaction with Morey, accusing him of not knowing how to build a proper NBA roster. Morris stated, “He thinks too far ahead of the way basketball needs to be played.” This criticism comes despite Morey being regarded as an innovative executive in the league.

More recently, Morris pointed out coaching issues while playing under Nurse. He lamented the lack of direction the team had when star center Joel Embiid was injured, saying, “His offense was nothing. We was going on the fly—just making [expletive] up.”

Throughout the 2023-2024 NBA season, the 76ers acquired Morris, who played in 37 games, averaging 17 minutes with seven points and three rebounds per game. Yet, his time with the team came to an end when he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs and subsequently waived, later finding a new home with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 76ers’ performance under Nurse has struggled, featuring a 71-93 record. They made the playoffs only once during his tenure, dropping in the first round, while missing the postseason altogether last year. Nurse’s future appears uncertain, especially as the team’s success heavily relies on a healthy Embiid.

As Morris reflected on his experience, the Sixers continue to face challenges on the court. The effectiveness of the coaching staff and roster adjustments remains under scrutiny.
