Nissan Recalls Over 440,000 Vehicles Due to Engine Failure Risk

Washington, D.C. — Nissan has issued a recall for more than 440,000 vehicles due to potential defects that may lead to engine failure. The recall, identified as 25V437, involves models from 2021 to 2024, including the Nissan Rogue, Nissan Altima from 2019 to 2020, and the Infiniti QX50 and QX55 from 2019 to 2022 and 2022, respectively.
The affected vehicles are equipped with either a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter or a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter variable compression turbo engines. Nissan has indicated that the engine bearings may have manufacturing defects, which could result in the loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Nissan’s announcement on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website confirmed that a total of 443,899 vehicles are included in the recall. The company stated that dealers will inspect the engine oil pan for any metal debris. If debris is found, dealers will repair or replace the engine at no cost to the owner.
For vehicles with the 3-cylinder 1.5L VC-Turbo engines, dealers will replace the oil pan gasket and engine oil, and reprogram the engine control module if no debris is detected during inspection. Similarly, if no debris is found in the 4-cylinder 2.0L VC-Turbo engine vehicles, dealers will only replace the engine oil.
Nissan plans to notify dealers starting July 15, followed by notifying affected drivers beginning August 25. Vehicle owners can reach Nissan’s customer service line at 800-647-7261 or Infiniti’s line at 1-800-662-6200. The NHTSA recall number is 25V437.
