Conner Smith Nashville Car Accident

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country singer Conner Smith has been cited for a misdemeanor linked to a deadly crash in Nashville last month. Smith, 24, reportedly failed to yield while driving a pickup truck on June 8, resulting in the death of 77-year-old Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins, who was struck in a marked crosswalk.

According to Metro Nashville Police Department, Smith showed no signs of impairment during the incident. His attorney, Worrick G. Robinson IV, confirmed that Smith received a state citation for failure to yield the right of way resulting in death, classified as a Class A misdemeanor.

“Conner’s thoughts remain with Ms. Dobbins’ family, and he supports efforts to improve pedestrian safety,” Robinson stated. Smith has expressed his grief, saying he has prayed for Dobbins daily since the incident.

Witnesses reported that Smith rushed to assist Dobbins until emergency services arrived, but she later died at Vanderbilt Medical Center. The initial investigation revealed that Smith was not under the influence or distracted at the time of the crash.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Germantown community in Nashville has advocated for improved safety measures, leading to the installation of new signs and the removal of a tree that obstructed the view of the crosswalk.

Smith was in his hometown to perform at a four-day music festival when the accident occurred. He has since canceled several shows but has not specified when he will return to performing.

“His commitment to honoring her memory includes actively supporting pedestrian safety to prevent similar tragedies in the future,” Robinson added.
