Kaitlyn Bristowe Talks Dating Struggles After Broken Engagement

Nashville, TN — Kaitlyn Bristowe, a former contestant on The Bachelor, opened up about her dating difficulties two years after her broken engagement. In an interview with E! News, she shared her struggles with dating and the impacts of her personal challenges.
“Because of my own inner demons and trauma, I’m so hyper-independent,” Bristowe said. “When I start dating, I’m like, ‘Alright do long-distance forever and we can do our own thing and then come together on the weekends or whatever.’ My therapist always tells me it’s my coping mechanism. So, I feel like the challenge itself is just on me.”
The 40-year-old also expressed disappointment with the dating scene in Nashville. “There’s pee in the dating pool in Nashville,” she joked. “So I have to go elsewhere. It’s not good here.”
When asked if she would ever consider finding love on another reality dating show, Bristowe declined. “No, no, no,” she said. “I will be a part of it in any other way, but not as a contestant.”
Interestingly, Bristowe is involved in a new project. She is set to host a Hulu dating experiment, *Are You My First?*, alongside fellow Bachelor alum Colton Underwood. The show features 21 virgins in search of love.
<p“I love Colton and I’s chemistry,” she gushed. “I had a crush on him before I knew he was gay. That was, for me, a big part of why I wanted to be a part of the show.”
<pBristowe believes the format is unique and groundbreaking. “When you hear the idea, you wonder, ‘How has this not been done before?’” she said. The show aims to present a fresh take on dating by showcasing people experiencing their first relationships.
“We see so many reality shows where we’ve already watched people either fall in love or they’re on their third love story,” she noted. “Where this one, everybody is experiencing so many firsts. It was really beautiful watching them all navigate that together and comfortable as virgins together.”
*Are You My First?* premieres with all ten episodes on August 18 on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally. The premiere episode will air on ABC on the same evening at 10 p.m., following an all-new episode of Bachelor in Paradise.
