A'ja Wilson Wnba Mvp 2025

Las Vegas, NV – A'ja Wilson, star forward for the Las Vegas Aces, has been named the WNBA‘s Most Valuable Player for the fourth time, marking a significant milestone in league history. Wilson received the award for the second consecutive year, as announced on Sunday by the league.

In a competitive voting process, Wilson secured 534 points and 18 first-place votes, outpacing second-place finisher Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx. Following Wilson were Alyssa Thomas from the Connecticut Sun and Kelsey Mitchell from the Indiana Fever.

After receiving the award at a practice session, Wilson expressed gratitude and emotional appreciation for her teammates. “They counted us out,” she said. “But we showed up every single day.” With this honor, Wilson has now surpassed former three-time MVPs like Sheryl Swoopes and Lisa Leslie.

During the 2025 regular season, Wilson led the league with averages of 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. She played an instrumental role in guiding the Aces to a 30-14 record, following a challenging start to the season. Under head coach Becky Hammon, the Aces turned things around, achieving a franchise-record 17-game winning streak starting in August.

Wilson, reflecting on her growth as a player, noted that improving her ability to read defenses has been crucial to her success. “I work on tons of stuff, but my basketball mind is what helps me figure things out,” she said.

The Aces are set to face the Indiana Fever in the WNBA semifinals, beginning Sunday. The matchup marks another significant moment for both teams, as the Fever look to continue their playoff success after defeating the Atlanta Dream in the previous round.

“My main goal is to get a win against a really good Indiana Fever team,” Wilson stated as the Aces prepared for the upcoming challenge. The first game will air at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.
