Yom Kippur Fasting Schedule Worldwide

JERUSALEM, Israel — Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, begins at sunset on October 1, 2025, marking the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Observant Jews partake in a 25-hour fast, reflecting on their actions over the past year.

The fast initiates different times based on location. In Jerusalem, the fast starts at 5:44 P.M. and ends at 6:59 P.M. Meanwhile, Tel Aviv begins at 6:04 P.M. and concludes at 7:01 P.M. Other cities include Be'er Sheva, where it runs from 6:06 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., and Haifa from 5:55 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

In North America, New York City observes the fast starting at 6:19 P.M. and concluding at 7:16 P.M. Miami‘s fast begins at 6:49 P.M. and ends at 7:40 P.M. Los Angeles marks the timings from 6:19 P.M. to 7:13 P.M., while Washington D.C. observes from 6:32 P.M. to 7:28 P.M.

Internationally, Toronto’s fast spans from 6:40 P.M. to 7:38 P.M., and in London, it starts at 6:20 P.M. and wraps up at 7:25 P.M. In Berlin, the fasting shift will be from 6:25 P.M. to 7:31 P.M.

For those in the Southern Hemisphere, Melbourne observes from 6:06 P.M. to 7:05 P.M., while Buenos Aires will fast from 6:39 P.M. to 7:39 P.M., and Johannesburg from 5:50 P.M. to 6:43 P.M.

During this period, certain restrictions are placed on traffic throughout Israel to respect the solemnity of the day.
