Two Delta Jets Collide at LaGuardia Airport, One Injured

NEW YORK – Two Delta regional jets collided at low speeds while taxiing at LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday evening, injuring one person.
The incident occurred around 9:56 p.m. when the right wing of one aircraft struck the nose of another. The collision caused significant damage, including a lost wing section and shattered windshields.
Delta Flight 5047 was taxiing after landing from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) when it was struck by another Delta regional jet. Reports indicate the pilots informed Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the damage through audio transmissions.
A video posted on social media by a CBS correspondent revealed that a colleague on board Flight 5047 witnessed the collision shortly after landing.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and officials from Delta, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the Port Authority have been contacted for further information. No updates on the severity of the injuries have been released at this time.
