Two Children Dead, Two Critically Injured in Angleton Shooting

ANGLETON, Texas — A shooting early Saturday morning has left two children dead and two others critically injured near Angleton, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities reported that a 13-year-old and a 4-year-old were killed in the incident, which occurred close to a gas station on SH 288B near FM 521 around 5 a.m. The location of the shooting is still being investigated, as officials do not believe it happened at the gas station.

Deputies confirmed that an 8-year-old and a 9-year-old were flown to a hospital in critical condition. As of the latest updates, both are expected to survive.

The sheriff’s office stated, “All individuals believed to be involved have been detained, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.” They added that the loss of two children in this manner is a tragedy, expressing their thoughts for the affected families.

An investigator informed KHOU 11 that an adult woman is among those taken into custody, though the relationships between the children and the woman remain unclear.

A news conference about the incident is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday. Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is currently assisting in the investigation at a related residence.

The shooting has shocked the community, with ongoing support for the families affected as investigations continue.
