Armando González Soccer Match

México City, Mexico — The Estadio Olímpico Universitario was the site for an exciting match between Club América and Guadalajara during Jornada 12 of the Apertura 2025. Armando González showcased his impressive form by scoring his sixth goal of the season, helping his team secure a 1-1 draw against the university side.

Despite Guadalajara’s dominance throughout the match, the first goal came from América in the second half. A miscommunication between Luis Romo and Rubén González allowed Ecuadorian player Pedro Vite to capitalize following an individual play by José Juan Macías.

However, the spirits of the rojiblancos remained high. They regrouped quickly and pushed forward to find the equalizer. From the left side, Bryan González timed his pass perfectly to Efraín Álvarez, who delivered an accurate cross into the box where La Hormiga outjumped his markers to beat goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

This goal marked González’s sixth of the season, bringing him level with Ángel Sepúlveda from Cruz Azul, Colombian Óscar Estupiñán from Juárez, Spaniard Sergio Canales, and Argentine Germán Berterame from Rayados. He still trails Brazilian Joao Pedro from San Luis by two goals and Portuguese Paulinho Días from Toluca by three, with five matches remaining in the season.

González has netted two goals against San Luis, and one each against Xolos, América, Necaxa, and Pumas. Other tapatío players contributing goals this semester include Cade Cowell, Efraín Álvarez, Roberto Alvarado with two goals, Diego Campillo, Santiago Sandoval, and Samir Inda.

Rumors suggested that González could receive a call-up to join the Mexican national team for the upcoming FIFA date in October; however, his name was absent from the list provided by coach Javier Aguirre.
