Xbox Game Pass New Plans Announcement

Redmond, WA — Microsoft is revamping its Xbox Game Pass subscription service, introducing new plans aimed at enhancing player choice and experience. Starting today, three upgraded tiers — Essential, Premium, and Ultimate — offer expanded game libraries and cloud access.

Since its launch in 2017, Xbox Game Pass has seen steady growth in both subscriber numbers and user satisfaction. This latest update aims to provide more flexibility for players across all gaming devices. The plan changes are a response to the evolving preferences of gamers.

The Ultimate plan has received the most significant overhaul. Priced at $29.99/month, it now includes access to over 75 day-one game releases annually, enhanced cloud gaming streaming quality up to 1440p, and new benefits, including Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics.

“We are committed to meeting players where they are,” said Dustin Blackwell, Microsoft’s director of gaming and platform communications, adding that creator participation and player engagement are at an all-time high.

For Premium subscribers, who will continue to pay $14.99/month, the plan now features over 200 games available on Xbox consoles and PCs, along with unlimited cloud gaming and in-game benefits for select titles.

The Essential plan, available for $9.99/month, provides access to a curated library of over 50 games on console and PC, along with online multiplayer and Rewards with Xbox.

Notably, current Game Pass Core subscribers will automatically transition to the Essential plan, while Standard subscribers will move to Premium, ensuring that all existing users benefit from the enhanced offerings.

With these adjustments, Microsoft aims to cater to diverse gaming styles and preferences, ensuring that all players have the opportunity to enjoy gaming on their terms.

Blackwell emphasized that the pricing changes and expanded features reflect Microsoft’s ongoing investment in the Game Pass ecosystem, which has secured a myriad of partnerships to broaden its game offerings.
