Paraguay Faces South Korea in Key Friendly Match This Morning

Seoul, South Korea – Paraguay’s national football team will take on South Korea today at 8:00 AM local time in their second friendly match of the Asian tour.
Head coach Gustavo Alfaro, known as the “hunter of utopias,” has announced several notable changes to the team, indicating a shift in strategy. Orlando Gill will replace Roberto Fernández as goalkeeper, while Alan Benítez steps in for Juan José Cáceres in defense. Matías Galarza is also expected to join the midfield alongside Hugo Cuenca and Ronaldo Martínez, both starting forward for this match.
Alfaro emphasized the importance of improving team dynamics ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. “The goal is to evolve into a more cohesive, dynamic, and competitive squad,” he said during a press conference. “After a 15-year absence from World Cup play, this is a great aspiration for both the team and the nation.”
The coach acknowledged the challenges his team faces against highly ranked nations such as Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. He stressed the need for tactical adjustments that were evident in the recent match against Japan. “It’s essential that we enhance our abilities while maintaining the fighting spirit characteristic of Paraguayan football,” he added.
Today’s match comes after Paraguay’s late draw against Japan, and the team hopes to regain confidence against the skilled South Korean squad, which is undergoing a rebuilding phase after a recent heavy loss to Brazil.
The match will be held at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul, with broadcasts available on Tigo Sports and national radio stations.
Following this friendly, Paraguay will prepare for upcoming matches against United States and Mexico in mid-November.
