Angel Reese Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

NEW YORK, NY — WNBA star Angel Reese will walk the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Oct. 15, making her the first professional athlete to take on this role. The announcement was made in a video where she expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m finally getting my wings.”

Reese, a forward for the Chicago Sky, has gained attention not only for her on-court talent but also for her growing presence in the fashion industry. Just weeks before the fashion show, Victoria’s Secret welcomed her on social media, declaring her the brand’s first professional athlete angel.

This monumental achievement follows a series of successful collaborations for Reese, including a limited-edition collection with Juicy Couture and a partnership with Reebok for her signature shoe. The sneaker was notable for selling out quickly, demonstrating her influence and marketability.

Reese has also made strides beyond basketball. She was featured on the cover of Vogue and attended the prestigious Met Gala, further solidifying her status in the fashion world. “I hope I can inspire women and girls everywhere and remind them that we can dominate in our field but also chase our goals outside of it,” she said.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has evolved since its inception in 2001, aiming to become more inclusive after facing criticism for a lack of diversity and representation. As part of this shift, Reese’s participation symbolizes a new era that celebrates strength and individuality.

Following Reese’s announcement, Team USA gymnast Sunisa Lee also confirmed her participation in the show, increasing the number of athletes walking the runway for this year’s event to two.

Reese’s exciting foray into fashion is more than just a personal triumph; it reflects broader changes within the industry and the increasing crossover appeal of women’s sports.
