Maryland Man Wins $150,000 Lottery from Random Numbers
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (Nov. 5, 2025) — A Maryland man won a $150,000 lottery prize after numbers popped into his head while mowing his neighbor’s lawn. The Upper Marlboro resident, who has been playing the lottery for over 35 years, bought a Pick 5 ticket from Express Mart in Bowie, using the numbers 1-3-6-0-5.
The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, described how the numbers came to him as he was cutting grass. “Those numbers just popped in my head and wouldn’t go away,” he said. His wife encouraged him to play those numbers, leading to a life-changing victory.
“When I checked the winning numbers, I scanned the ticket on my phone and screamed, ‘Baby, look at this!’ We both just took a moment and prayed,” he added. The man plans to use his winnings to improve his finances, take a road trip, and treat his wife, who he calls his “good luck charm.”
Meanwhile, the Maryland Lottery recently hosted the second Unlock the Cash Second-Chance Promotion Live Game. In this event, winners Sallie Drake from Joppatowne and Tania Shreve from Brooklyn Park were selected from over 126,000 entries to win cash and scratch-off prizes.
During the live game, each winner opened safes that contained cash prizes between $2,500 and $15,000. Tania’s fiancé cheered her on as she revealed her $15,000 win. “I look forward to taking a vacation,” Tania said.
Sallie, a retired employee from Johns Hopkins, earned a total of $5,000 and plans to pay it forward. This second event follows one that awarded a top prize of $25,000 to Patrick Meers from Towson. The final drawing of the promotion is scheduled for Nov. 6.
