Ty Simpson Reflects on Milroe’s Success Ahead of LSU Matchup
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Ty Simpson, Alabama‘s football quarterback, has been closely observing the performances of Jalen Milroe against LSU. As he prepares for the upcoming clash on Saturday night, Simpson reflected on Milroe’s dominant display in the last two seasons.
In 2023, Milroe threw for 219 yards and rushed for 155 yards, scoring four touchdowns in a 42-28 win over LSU. The following year, Milroe improved his performance, rushing for 185 yards and four touchdowns while passing for 109 yards, leading Alabama to a 42-13 victory.
Simpson noted Milroe’s speed as his greatest asset during those games. “I thought Jalen did a great job of just being himself, running around making plays. He made it simple and didn’t let the moment get to him,” Simpson said. “That’s what I need to do. Just make it simple and do the little things right.”
This weekend, Simpson has an opportunity to showcase his own skills against a formidable LSU defense. Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson emphasized the challenge posed by the Tigers. “Their offense is explosive. One misfit could lead to a big play,” Lawson said.
Alabama’s defensive coordinator, Kane Wommack, is preparing the defense for LSU’s potent attack under new offensive coordinator Alex Atkins. Wommack acknowledged that adjustments may be necessary as they anticipate different strategies from the Tigers. “Good defensive staffs adapt to what they encounter,” Wommack said.
As Alabama faces LSU at Bryant-Denny Stadium, both teams are aware of the stakes. Simpson’s experience watching Milroe will serve as a guiding example as he looks to make his mark in this high-pressure game.
