Adt Plus Home Security System Features

Mountain View, CaliforniaADT Plus, a new home security system developed in partnership with Google, utilizes facial recognition technology for seamless access. The system offers automatic unlocking and disarming functions, enhancing convenience for authorized users, at a monthly fee of $40.

The core of ADT Plus includes a base unit, door and window sensors, motion detectors, and alarm systems. Users can automate home security without needing codes or apps, as gear linked through Google Nest recognizes them and triggers these features based on location.

“This hands-free experience has transformed my approach to home security,” said Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, a senior tech reviewer. She has tested the system and appreciates how it reduces the need for physical keys or manual disarming of the alarm.

Launched last summer, ADT Plus integrates with Google Home and works with Nest cameras and smart displays, generating notifications for package deliveries and home activity. There is also a ‘Trusted Neighbor’ feature allowing designated individuals controlled access for tasks such as package delivery.

The system’s price, however, may limit its appeal. While it provides 24/7 professional monitoring, it requires a three-year contract with professional installation. Self-installation allows users to bypass the contract but still incurs a monthly charge.

Further enhancements are planned for the future, as ADT aims to refine features and improve usability. This evolution marks a significant shift for ADT, a historic player in home security.
