Alyssa Thomas Surpasses Diana Taurasi in All-Time Field Goals

Mohegan, Connecticut — Alyssa Thomas reached another significant milestone in her WNBA career during Wednesday’s game against the Chicago Sky. Before the game, she stood second on the league’s all-time list for made field goals, with 3,339, just two behind the legendary Diana Taurasi.
Thomas wasted no time on the court, quickly scoring her first field goal with a 17-foot jump shot. She tied Taurasi with a hook shot off an assist from Lindsey Allen, then surpassed her with a layup assisted by Marina Mabrey. By that moment, she had recorded 3,342 field goals, with three quarters still to play against the Sky.
As of Wednesday night, Thomas remains ahead of notable players such as Nneka Ogwumike (2,859) and Candice Dupree (2,842). In the weeks preceding this game, Thomas achieved two other remarkable milestones. In August, she became the first player in WNBA history to record 200 double-doubles, with a performance of 23 points and 10 rebounds against the Sky.
Furthermore, she moved into 10th place for all-time games played in WNBA history. Despite her extensive career, she trails behind standout players like Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi.
Thomas is also the all-time leading rebounder and among only two players with over 4,000 career rebounds. Her accolades include being selected as the 2010 WNBA Rookie of the Year and the 2012 WNBA MVP, along with multiple All-Star selections. She has also won gold medals with the U.S. Olympic team in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
Alyssa Thomas was the first overall pick in the 2010 WNBA draft and has played for multiple teams, including the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics, before returning to the Sun. Her impact on the league and potential Hall of Fame induction seems inevitable as she continues to set records.
