Amazon’s Alexa Update Could Render Older Echo Devices Obsolete

SEATTLE, Wash. — As Amazon prepares to unveil a significant update to its Alexa smart assistant, longtime users of the original Echo may face an uncertain future. The update, set to launch in approximately 24 hours, will transform Alexa from a basic digital assistant into a more advanced generative AI capable of handling more complex tasks.
