Amber Alert Issued for Abducted Boy in Tangipahoa Parish

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — An AMBER Alert has been issued for 2-year-old Christopher Cooper, who was reported abducted on Tuesday night. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that Cooper was last seen around 9:45 p.m. on September 30, 2025, while traveling southbound on Interstate 55 near Kentwood.
Authorities received the request to issue the AMBER Alert at 10:45 p.m. Cooper is described as a light-skinned black male with brown eyes and short black hair. He is approximately 3 feet 2 inches tall and weighs between 40 and 50 pounds. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a red shirt, black shorts, and blue Crocs shoes.
James Mercier, a white male who may be with Cooper, is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown eyes and hair. Mercier weighs about 160 pounds and was last seen wearing black pants without a shirt, although he was carrying a white or gray shirt.
Mercier and Cooper are believed to be traveling in a white 2011 GMC Yukon with Mississippi license plate PJT070. Law enforcement is asking anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 345-6150 or to call 911 immediately.
