Disney Hollywood Studios Animation Courtyard Closure

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Disney’s Hollywood Studios has permanently closed Animation Courtyard, marking the end of an era on September 25, 2025. The area, which featured attractions like Star Wars Launch Bay and Disney Jr. Play and Dance, is undergoing a significant transformation to accommodate a brand-new space, The Walt Disney Studios Lot.

Visitors walking through the park on the final day noticed construction walls rising around the area, a visible sign of the changes ahead. Guests took one last look at the now-closed attractions before they become part of park history.

The future land will showcase a reimagined experience dedicated to animation, with hands-on workshops, character encounters, and a playground inspired by classic Disney films. The signature Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat will return to adorn the new building, reminiscent of the original in California.

“The Magic of Disney Animation,” one of the new attractions, will allow guests to learn drawing from Disney animators while they explore interactive experiences. The area will also feature character meet-and-greets, including Darth Vader, who has been relocated to a new spot near Star Tours.

The closure of Animation Courtyard follows earlier changes in the park, with Grand Avenue also undergoing redevelopment. Fans are eager to see the debut of new experiences and expect to return to Hollywood Studios for future visits when the park’s facelift is complete in 2026.

“We’re excited yet nostalgic about the changes,” a park visitor said while taking photographs. “Animation Courtyard had such charm, but we’re looking forward to what’s coming next.”

Although specific opening dates for The Walt Disney Studios Lot have not been announced, Disney plans to unveil more about the project in the coming months. The closure emphasizes Disney’s commitment to evolving and enhancing guest experiences at its parks.
