Apple Launches CarPlay Ultra with Aston Martin Partnership

Palo Alto, California — Apple has officially launched CarPlay Ultra, the next generation of its in-car integration system, starting with new Aston Martin vehicle orders in the U.S. and Canada.
Beginning today, customers can order vehicles equipped with CarPlay Ultra, and existing Aston Martin models will receive a software update in the coming weeks. This rollout brings a deeply integrated experience that allows drivers to connect their iPhone with their car’s various systems.
CarPlay Ultra expands on the existing features of CarPlay, displaying real-time content on the instrument cluster, including speed, fuel, and temperature gauges, while adapting to the unique design of each vehicle. “iPhone users love CarPlay, and it has transformed how people connect with their vehicles,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
Alongside Aston Martin, brands like Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis are also working towards supporting CarPlay Ultra, although Apple did not specify a timeline for their rollout. The new platform aims to enhance the driving experience by merging app functionality with advanced vehicle systems.
“This integration goes beyond traditional attributes, bringing unique in-vehicle capabilities to customers,” said an Aston Martin spokesperson. The interface offers customizable themes tailored to each brand, allowing drivers to select colors and wallpapers according to personal preferences.
With the release of CarPlay Ultra, Apple aims to provide a smarter, safer way to use iPhone in the car. However, users must have an iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or higher to access the new features.
The ability to control vehicle functions through Siri or touch controls adds to the seamlessness of CarPlay Ultra, providing a more dynamic driving experience. Aston Martin vehicles that support the brand’s latest infotainment systems will be eligible for this upgrade via local dealers.
As CarPlay Ultra becomes more widely available, drivers can anticipate even greater integration with their favorite iPhone applications, enhancing both safety and convenience on the road.
