Apple to Unveil iPhone 17 with Major Upgrades This Fall

Cupertino, California — Apple is set to launch its iPhone 17 lineup later this year, showcasing significant upgrades across its models. This announcement comes on the heels of reports confirming a variety of enhancements, particularly within the ‘Pro’ models.

This year’s collection will include four new variations of the iPhone, introducing an ultra-thin ‘Air’ model to replace the previous ‘Plus’ version. Notably, the standard iPhone 17 will see its display size increase from 6.12 inches to 6.27 inches, enhancing usability.

In a related development, reports suggest a potential shift in Apple’s display supply chain for the iPhone 17 Pro. Traditionally reliant on Samsung and LG, Apple may start sourcing displays from the Chinese manufacturer BOE, contingent on their ability to meet quality expectations.

BOE is poised to produce 50 million LTPO OLED panels for the iPhone 17 Pro, a significant increase in responsibility for a company that has faced scrutiny over quality control in the past. If approved, this move could disrupt the dominance of Samsung and LG in Apple’s supply chain and indicate progress in BOE’s production capabilities.
