Apple Macos Tahoe Features Announcement

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA — Apple unveiled its latest macOS release, named Tahoe, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9, 2025. This update introduces a striking new design and enhanced capabilities aimed at improving user productivity and integrating seamlessly with iPhone.

The new design features iconic elements crafted from Liquid Glass, providing a fresh, translucent look that enhances the desktop, Dock, toolbars, and in-app navigation. Users can personalize their experience with new color options for folders, app icons, and widgets.

A key feature of macOS Tahoe is the introduction of the Phone app on Mac. With this addition, users can make and receive calls directly on their Mac by syncing with their nearby iPhone. This integrates features like Recents and Contacts, as well as new functionalities such as Call Screening and Hold Assist.

“macOS is the heart and soul of the Mac, and with Tahoe, we’re building on what users love most,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “Whether you’re a power user or just getting started on Mac, there’s something for everyone.”

Spotlight, the search tool on macOS, also receives a significant overhaul. It now allows users to execute actions directly, such as sending emails or creating notes, without switching between applications. Enhanced filtering options make it easier to find specific content.

Apple Intelligence expands its capabilities with features like Live Translation and Genmoji, enhancing the overall user experience while maintaining privacy. These features can aid users in communicating across languages and expressing creativity using personalized emoji.

For gamers, macOS Tahoe introduces Apple Games, a dedicated app allowing users to manage their gaming experience and access new titles more easily. Developers are expected to deliver exciting new games optimized for and compatible with the latest Mac hardware.

The new update is available today for testing through the Apple Developer Program, with a public beta set to launch next month. The official release will be free and available this fall.
