CUPERTINO, California — Apple has launched a refreshed version of its popular MacBook Air, now powered by the advanced M4 chip, promising enhanced performance, better battery life, and an attractive new color.

Announced on March 5, 2025, the new MacBook Air models feature either a 13-inch or 15-inch display, support for up to 18 hours of battery life, and a 12MP Center Stage camera. The laptop will be available for pre-order starting today at a reduced price of $999, down from its previous $1,099. Educational pricing starts at $899.

“MacBook Air is by far the world’s most popular laptop, and today we’re giving everyone even more reasons to love it,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “With a big boost in performance with the M4 chip, a new Center Stage camera, and a beautiful new sky blue color, we’re delivering more value than ever.”

The M4 chip enhances multitasking and demanding activities such as video and photo editing, boasting a powerful 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. Apple claims that the new model is up to twice as fast as the M1 model and 23 times faster compared to the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air.

In addition to performance, the new MacBook Air is designed for versatility with support for two external 6K displays alongside its built-in Liquid Retina display. The Center Stage camera improves video quality and uses advanced algorithms to keep users centered during video calls. It also includes a Desk View feature, allowing simultaneous display of the user and a top-down view of their work space.

The new MacBook Air is offered in four color options, including the newly introduced sky blue, which shines when light reflects off its surface, alongside Midnight, Starlight, and Silver. Each model comes equipped with a color-matched MagSafe charging cable.

With the capabilities of macOS Sequoia and Apple Intelligence, users can take advantage of features like Image Playground for visual creativity, Genmoji for emoji creation, and an upgraded Siri that responds to voice and typed commands seamlessly. Additionally, users will have free access to ChatGPT integrated within Writing Tools, further streamlining productivity.

The new MacBook Air reflects Apple’s commitment to environmental sustainability. It boasts over 55 percent recycled content, making it the most eco-friendly MacBook ever produced. Apple has pledged to use 100 percent renewable electricity in its operations globally and aims to become carbon neutral across its entire supply chain by 2030.

The MacBook Air will officially hit stores on March 12, 2025, allowing users to experience these exciting new features and improvements. For more information, visit Apple’s website.
