Apple Unveils New MacBook Pros with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max Chips
Apple is set to unveil its new lineup of MacBook Pro models, featuring the recently announced M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. The announcement, expected to be made through a press release and video, comes after Apple leaked an image of the M4 Max chip on its website, further confirming the imminent launch of these new laptops.
The M4 Pro chip, which has already been officially introduced, boasts up to a 14-core CPU with 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores, along with up to a 20-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. It also supports up to 64GB of RAM, Thunderbolt 5, and an increased memory bandwidth of 273GB/s.
The M4 Max chip, expected to power the higher-end models of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, is anticipated to offer even more robust performance. While specific details of the M4 Max are not fully disclosed, it is likely to build upon the capabilities of the M4 Pro chip.
No major external design changes are expected for the MacBook Pro lineup this year. However, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is rumored to gain an additional Thunderbolt port and start with a minimum of 16GB of RAM, aligning with recent trends seen in the new iMac and Mac mini models.
The last significant redesign of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro was in 2021, with the latest models featuring the M3 family of chips released last October. The new models are expected to offer significant performance improvements over their predecessors.
