Atlanta Primus Joins Charlton Athletic on Loan
Atlanta Primus has confirmed her transfer to Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan. The 27-year-old Jamaican international is set to join the club to complete the 2024/25 campaign.
Primus initially made an impact with 14 league appearances after moving to the south coast from the London City Lionesses. However, she did not participate in Southampton’s first two matches of the new season. In comparison, Charlton Athletic began their season strongly with two consecutive victories.
This move holds personal significance for Primus. Her father, Linvoy Primus, also kickstarted his career at Charlton Athletic and later returned to the club on loan from Portsmouth in 2008.
Southampton FC issued a statement wishing Atlanta Primus all the best in her new role and assured they would monitor her progress throughout the season.
Primus’ departure from the team comes after Lucy Watson joined Southampton on a season-long loan from Chelsea. Watson, an England youth international, spent last season with Championship winners Crystal Palace following a lengthy injury rehabilitation.
Southampton hopes to maintain their strong start to the season, aiming for success against Blackburn Rovers, who have yet to score any points in the new season. Watson may make her debut in the upcoming match at St Mary’s Stadium.
