Australian Woman And Dutch Partner Killed In Bali Landslide Tragedy

An Australian woman, identified as Angelina Smith, and her partner, Luciano Kross from the Netherlands, tragically lost their lives in a devastating landslide incident that struck a village in Jatiluwih, Bali.

The fatal landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, engulfed the couple’s villa where they were residing, leading to their untimely demise.

The bodies of Angelina Smith, aged 47 and a United States resident, and Luciano Kross, aged 50, were recovered from the rubble following the incident that occurred on Thursday morning.

Local authorities, including the Indonesian disaster mitigation agency and the Department of Foreign Affairs, have been involved in providing support and assistance to the families of the deceased.

Smith, believed to have been born in Melbourne, had recently visited Australia in December before the tragic events unfolded in Bali.

The bodies of the victims were transferred to a hospital in Denpasar, as investigations into the cause of the landslide continue.

This heartbreaking incident adds to the series of natural disasters that have plagued Indonesia, with regions like Sumatra experiencing landslides and floods due to prolonged torrential rains in the past weeks.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs expressed their condolences and affirmed that they are committed to assisting the affected families during this challenging time.
