Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 Introduces 12 New Subclasses, Crossplay, and Photo Mode
Larian Studios has unveiled the details of Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3, which promises to be a significant update for the highly acclaimed RPG. One of the major highlights of this patch is the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each corresponding to a different class in the game.
The new subclasses include a variety of unique abilities and playstyles. For instance, the Barbarian class will get the “Path of Giants” subclass, which allows players to channel giant energy to become super-strong and super-sized. The Fighter class will receive the “Arcane Archer” subclass, enabling players to master both magic and marksmanship with a bow and arrow. The Warlock class will see the addition of the “Hexblade” subclass, which lets players resurrect certain types of slain enemies to become necrotic damage-dealing spirits.
Other notable subclasses include the Wizard’s “Bladesinging,” which increases agility and focus and features new animations for casting spells with a sword; the Monk’s “Drunken Master,” which allows players to recover Ki points by drinking alcohol and makes enemies susceptible to various skills; and the Ranger’s “Stormkeeper,” which commands three swarms in battle, including a jellyfish mob, moths, and bees.
In addition to the new subclasses, Patch 8 will also introduce crossplay support, allowing players on different platforms to team up and continue their adventures together. This update will include cross-progression as well, enabling players to play their adventures on multiple devices.
Another highly anticipated feature is the Photo Mode, which will offer a robust set of tools for capturing in-game moments. This includes frames, stickers, lens settings, post-processing effects, and over 40 static and animated poses for characters. Players will also be able to toggle NPCs and other characters to ensure the perfect shot.
Larian Studios has confirmed that Patch 8 will be the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 before the studio moves on to its next project. The patch is scheduled to release in 2025, with stress testing set to begin in early January).
