Riya Arvinda Barde Arrest

Riya Arvinda Barde, a Bangladeshi adult film actress, was apprehended in Ulhasnagar, Thane district, Maharashtra for illegally residing in India using falsified documents, according to officials who spoke to the news agency PTI. The arrest on Thursday followed an investigation by the Hill Line police station into her activities following a tip-off regarding her fraudulent documentation.

Authorities registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Barde under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to cheating, forgery, and common intention, in addition to charges under the Foreigners Act. Police reports revealed that the investigation, which commenced a year ago, uncovered discrepancies in Barde’s birth records, which were linked to three different locations: West Bengal‘s North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, and Achalpur in Maharashtra’s Amravati district.

The probe further unveiled how Barde not only falsified documents for herself but also allegedly conspired to acquire fake educational certificates and passports for one of her accomplices. Her detention comes amid a wider crackdown where authorities have detained seven other Bangladeshi nationals this week for residing illegally in India.

According to reports by The Times of India, Barde, also known by her pseudonyms Arohi Barde and Banna Sheikh, was living in India with her family members, who were also implicated in fraudulent activities. Her mother, Anjali Barde, who is also known as Ruby Sheikh, reportedly married an Indian national from Amravati, Arvind Barde, potentially to secure their stay in the country. Currently, police assert that Barde’s parents reside in Qatar, while her siblings’ whereabouts are under investigation.

Riya Barde, known for her work in adult films, was reportedly associated with productions by Raj Kundra and performed alongside actress Gehana Vasisth. According to the film site IMDB, she is recognized for her role in the 2023 film “Aamras.” This is not her first legal entanglement; Barde was previously detained in Mumbai related to a prostitution case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
