Bank Holidays In March 2024: Comprehensive Coverage Of Closure Dates For Banks Across Different States

During the month of March 2024, several states across India will observe a series of bank closures, in conjunction with national and regional holidays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated these holidays in compliance with state government directions.

In line with the celebrations of Mahashivratri on March 8, banks in most states will remain closed. However, states like Tripura, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Itanagar, Rajasthan, Nagaland, West Bengal, New Delhi, Goa, Bihar, and Meghalaya will continue with regular banking operations.

Following Mahashivratri, the second Saturday in March (March 9) will mark another bank holiday, preceding a Sunday closure on March 10. This nationwide pattern of bank closures is notable for its inclusive coverage of public holidays, both regional and national, along with observance of second, fourth Saturdays, and usual Sundays.

An overview of the specific holidays in March across the country includes Chapchar Kut in Mizoram, Mahashivratri on March 8 (except for certain states), Holi on March 25 (except for specified regions), and Good Friday on March 29. Additionally, Bihar Diwas, Holi, and Yaosang/Holi will be celebrated on specific dates in Bihar and other states.

It is essential for individuals across India to be mindful of the detailed bank holiday schedule, aligning their visits to local branches effectively. While online banking services will remain active throughout these closures, the physical branch operations will be paused in adherence to the published holiday directives.
