Bengals Update: Flacco Active, Hendrickson and Wilson Inactive vs. Bears
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Joe Flacco is set to start for the Cincinnati Bengals in their Week 9 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Flacco’s status was confirmed on Sunday morning, despite a right shoulder injury that sidelined him from Wednesday’s practice and limited his participation throughout the week.
Flacco sustained an AC joint sprain during last week’s game against the New York Jets but is ready to take the field. He did not miss any offensive plays during that game and will make his fourth start for Cincinnati.
The Bengals will be without defensive end Trey Hendrickson, who headlines the list of inactive players after a hip injury kept him from practicing all week. This marks the second time in three games the four-time Pro Bowler will sit out.
Also inactive for the Bengals are linebacker Logan Wilson, cornerback Marco Wilson, guard Dalton Risner, wide receiver Jermaine Burton, and tight end Cam Grandy. Backup quarterback Sean Clifford will also be inactive as the designated emergency third quarterback.
The Bears have declared five players inactive for Sunday’s game, including running back D'Andre Swift, who is out with a groin injury. Swift leads the team with 464 rushing yards and four touchdowns, making his absence significant for Chicago.
Rookie Kyle Monangai is expected to take the majority of carries in a depleted Bears backfield against a struggling Bengals rush defense. Chicago also confirmed the inactives include wide receiver Luther Burden III (concussion) and running backs Roschon Johnson (back) and Dominique Robinson (ankle).
The Bengals, currently at a challenging stage in their season, will aim for victory as they face a Bears team also dealing with significant injury issues.
