Beth Behrs Reflects on Final Season of The Neighborhood

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actress Beth Behrs expressed her gratitude to CBS for renewing The Neighborhood for an eighth and final season, providing the opportunity for a proper farewell to her character, Gemma. Following the renewal announcement, Behrs took to Instagram to share her reflections on the show’s journey.
“Most of my 20s were on 2 Broke Girls, almost all of my 30s were on The Neighborhood, and I’ll usher in my 40s as we end our story,” Behrs posted. She stars alongside Max Greenfield, Tichina Arnold, and Cedric the Entertainer.
During her post, Behrs highlighted the importance of a proper conclusion after her previous series, 2 Broke Girls, was suddenly canceled. “2 Broke Girls and I never got a goodbye or an end to our story, and I’m just so grateful to CBS for a chance to say goodbye to Gemma the right way,” she wrote.
Behrs, who played the role of Caroline Channing on 2 Broke Girls, reflected on the impact of her seven years on The Neighborhood. “These have been some of the most memorable years of my life,” she commented. She praised the cast and crew’s resilience despite facing challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and industry strikes.
“We made it through COVID, strikes, elections… and came out stronger,” Behrs added. “Forever grateful to our entire cast and crew. Here’s to the best season yet! Season 8, let’s gooooo.” The final season of The Neighborhood is set to premiere later this year.
The abrupt cancellation of 2 Broke Girls in 2017 after six seasons left many fans disappointed and without closure. The show, which was created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings, followed the lives of two waitresses navigating their financial struggles while trying to start a cupcake business. Behrs has since emphasized how significant it is to have a finale that lets the cast and fans say goodbye.
