Bhojpuri star and BJP leader Pawan Singh has announced that he will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from the Karakat constituency in Bihar. Singh made this revelation on his official Twitter account, surprising many political observers and supporters.

After initially being nominated by the BJP to contest from Asansol in West Bengal, Singh declined the offer citing personal reasons. However, he has now declared his intention to enter the political fray from Karakat, stirring up excitement in political circles.

It is speculated that Pawan Singh might relinquish his BJP membership in order to run as an independent candidate from Karakat. This move comes after the recent announcement of SS Ahluwalia as the BJP candidate from Asansol.

Pawan Singh hails from Jokhari village in Buxar district and had earlier expressed interest in contesting from the Ballia constituency as well. However, the BJP nominated Chandra Shekhar’s son, Neeraj Shekhar, from there.

In his tweet, Singh expressed his determination to fulfill his promise to his mother by participating in the elections. The Karakat seat is currently held by the JDU, with Mahabali Singh emerging victorious in the 2019 polls with a significant margin.

The Karakat constituency is known for its significant Yadav voter base, along with voters from various other communities like Kushwaha, Kurmi, Muslim, Rajput, Vaishya, Brahmin, and Bhumihar. The political dynamics in Karakat make it a crucial battleground for the major parties in Bihar.
