BJP IT Cell Manipulates Video: Congress Leader Clarifies ‘Lick’ Remark on Hema Malini
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala responded to the recent controversy over his comment regarding BJP MP Hema Malini, clarifying that the video shared by BJP’s IT department head Amit Malviya was edited and distorted.
Surjewala emphasized that his statement was never meant to insult or hurt Hema Malini and blamed the BJP’s IT cell for spreading misinformation to deflect attention from the government’s policies.
Hema Malini, a prominent actor and politician, countered the remarks by stating that the opposition targets popular figures like her and should learn to respect women from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the video circulated by Malviya, Surjewala appeared to make a derogatory reference to Hema Malini, sparking a heated exchange between the two political parties.
Addressing these allegations, Surjewala maintained that he respects Hema Malini and mentioned her relationship with Dharmendra, portraying her as ‘our daughter-in-law’.
The incident prompted responses from various quarters, including UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and women’s commissions, with calls for accountability and respect in public discourse.
The National Commission for Women condemned Surjewala’s comments and sought action from the Chief Election Commissioner to address the derogatory language used against Hema Malini.
